The sails of hope

Dear readers! Falls is here, and with the summer holidays over, you are all once again engulfed in the whirlpool of the workday. Many of you have returned to the screens of your monitors, televisions, newspapers, and essentially found yourself caught in the vortex of politics. Sadly, politics permeates the life of every Ukrainian; but, unfortunately, these are the realities of today. And what do we see?...

The longer they’re in power, the more Yanukovych, Azarov and their sycophants defame everything Ukrainian in their path…There is nothing sacred for them – not the soul of the people, or the glorious pages of our history and culture, or democratic values. The criminal regime is returning, with catastrophic speed, to the days of Kuchma, Kivalov, political and cultural repression.

But we can’t allow them to kill Ukraine and crack down on civil society so that it can’t protect the country from tyrants and torturers. Do you remember the lyrics from Taras Petrynenko’s song Ukraina: "will our efforts be worthwhile - time and people will tell"? I believe that we will leave our descendants a free, proud and prosperous Ukraine – one that will protect its citizens and their freedoms. Ukraine has earned its right to the sails of hope!

I know that in Ukraine there are honest journalists and an informed civil society for whom everything Ukrainian trumps all else! Taras Shevchenko left us an invaluable lesson: "Fight and you will win! God is helping you!"
